Foster Care 101

Open your home. Change a life.

Many children need a safe, loving home—whether for a day, a year, or longer. Your family can be that place.

Understanding foster care

Children who need love, guidance, and a place to belong.

Many children are in need of a safe and loving home environment. These children may have been abused or neglected. For many of these children, a foster home is the solution. Keeping Kids Safe, Inc. was founded to provide a safe and loving environment for children who are unable to stay in their home.

What are foster children like?

Foster children are boys or girls, ranging in age from newborns to 18 years old. They may be a single child or part of a sibling group that needs to be placed together. Some have physical, emotional, cognitive, or social delays. They are children who want to belong and need to be shown love and guidance.

What do foster parents do?

Foster parents provide food, shelter, clothing, supervision, transportation to appointments and family visits, and support for dental and medical care. Just as importantly, they model positive parenting and provide love, security, and encouragement.
